Meet Your Host!
Hi there, I'm Kaitlyn Ugoretz, but since we're all friends on YouTube, you can call me Kay! I’m a PhD candidate at the University of California, Santa Barbara researching the connections between Japanese religion, media & technology, and popular culture. I grew up watching any anime I could get my hands on: Sailor Moon, Studio Ghibli, Mobile Suit Gundam, Pokemon, and Tenchi Muyo! You name it, I consumed it with a passion—I still do. I bet we have that in common. Fast forward a decade or two: I study and teach religion and anime for a living at a major university! Whether the college classroom is far in your future or in the rear-view mirror, you can learn about the fascinating relationship between religion and popular culture in Japan with me anytime on Eat Pray Anime!
